MASTER CLASS
May 31th, 2003

Harrisburg Opera Association presented Terrence McNally's Tony award winning play MASTER CLASS, at The Whitaker Center for Science and the Arts. At a time when opera companies were succumbing to economic difficulties of the period, HOA successfully continued to bring professional theater and opera to the Harrisburg area. This play, described by the Los Angeles Times as a "McNally's love letter to Callas" provided the subject matter, drama and music indicative of grand opera in a theatrical play. A troupe of professional actors and singing actors portrayed the lead roles. The production was met with critical acclaim by all local press reporting on it at the time.
